I'm going to be honest with you - I've completely fallen out of love with my business.
There. I said it.
It took me a while to figure out why, but when it clicked, it was so obvious I could have laughed. I've been trying to run Pin Clothing like some massive manufacturing brand. Buying whole rolls of fabric, making eight to ten of the exact same piece, rinse and repeat. And here's the thing, I'm not a manufacturing brand. I'm an artist. And quite frankly? I get bored easily!
Doing things that way has been slowly draining the joy out of something I genuinely love. So I'm done. I'm shaking things up.
What's actually changing
Moving forward, i'm doing away with the huge stock piles and shifting over to frequent, super limited drops. Here's how it's going to work day-to-day:
Whenever a gorgeous new piece of fabric arrives at the studio, you'll hear about it first. I'll share it with you, chat about why I chose it, and if something catches your eye, you'll be able to pre-order right then and there.
Then I'll sew a version up for myself, wear it out in the wild, film it, and show you what it actually looks like on a real person moving through real life. Because that matters.
After that, the sample goes live on the site, but there might only be one or two available to order. Why? because instead of buying what the wholesalers have on offer (at a discounted price but at volume) i'll have way more choice buying smaller amounts from fabric retailers. This does inventiably mean i'll be paying more for the fabrics from now on, but hopefully it's worth it in terms of choice and quality of fabrics!
Once those few are made, the fabric is gone. Completely gone. And I think there's something genuinely special about owning a piece that literally no one else on the planet has. (well, apart from maybe me, but hey, i'm totally ok with twinning of you are!)
Introducing: The Archive
When a fabric sells out completely, it moves over to a brand new part of the site called The Archive. Think of it as a library of past designs and cool fabric finds - a little museum of everything that's come through the studio.
If you spot something in The Archive that you've missed, you can join a wishlist. And if I can track down more of that specific fabric, I'll make it for you. No promises, but I'll always try!
The newsletter is now basically your VIP club
Because these drops are going to be so small and so exclusive, the newsletter is where it's all happening first. Subscribers get first access to everything before it even hits Instagram. If you want in on these new, super limited drops, make sure you're signed up!
Ultimately, this is all about getting my creative spark back. When I'm excited about what I'm making, that energy is completely contagious, and I know you'll love wearing those pieces so much more because of it.
